I am a licensed massage therapist specializing in therapeutic modalities. My practice focuses on body-based compensation patterns, sensory dysregulation, and acute/chronic pain. My work is both structurally specific and energetically sensitive. I have formally studied Chinese Medicine, Mandarin, Tui Na, Swedish massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Zero Balancing. I also have a personal interest in intergenerational legacies of trauma, social justice, and storytelling as a tool for meaning-making.
Before studying massage, I earned a BA in History from the University of Georgia. Both during college and after graduation, I spent four years studying Mandarin immersively in China; first in Huangshan, Anhui Province, and later in Beijing. Upon returning to the United States, I became interested in acupuncture and pursued a course of study at the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine before taking a step back to build a therapeutic foundation in massage. In 2020, I graduated from the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville, NC.
Since I began my career as a professional bodyworker, I have practiced in multiple settings, drawing on my education, interests, and personal experience as a hypermobile and highly sensitive person to provide targeted therapeutic care for individuals whose bodily experiences do not conform to normative standards. I especially love working with spiritual seekers and survivors of trauma who are interested in integrating challenging life experiences through mindful engagement with somatic signals and holding patterns. Since 2016, I’ve supported my work through a daily movement and meditation practice based on traditional Chinese martial arts.
I am committed to maintaining a trauma-informed practice that does not discriminate by body shape, type, identity, or presentation. I believe that it is critically important for each person to be accepted unconditionally as they are for healing to begin. I also believe that each of us already possesses what we need to heal and that the work of healing is about learning how to best listen to and trust the innate wisdom of the body. Whether a client seeks healing change or regulation and maintenance, my role is to be a careful, sensitive, and respectful steward of the process—to guide and be guided in turn by the interplay of signals that arise through engaged and intentional therapeutic touch. In this way, we can work together to improve our understanding of your body and cultivate both individual and collective agency.
